How to Verify Whether an Article Is Indexed by Google or Not

What is Indexing and Why Does it Matter?

The process by which search engines, such as Google, index your webpages so that consumers conducting online searches can access them is known as indexing. Your blog article will not show up in search results if it is not indexed.

How to Check if Your Website or Blog Post is Indexed

The first step in solving indexing issues is to check whether your page has been indexed by Google. Here's how you can do it: 

1. Search the Page Title

A straightforward method to check if your article is indexed is by searching its title in Google.

• Open Google’s search engine.
• Type the exact title of your page within quotation marks.
• Review the results to find your article.

If your article appears in the results, it’s indexed. However, if it doesn’t show up, try the methods below.

2. Search the Page URL

The easiest and most effective way to check for indexing is by searching for the full URL of your article.

• Copy the exact URL of your blog post.
• Paste it into Google’s search bar and hit enter.

Since URLs are unique, the result will directly display your article if it’s indexed. If no results appear, it means the post hasn’t been indexed yet.

3. Use the Site Search Operator

Another effective way is by using the site: search operator. Example site:yourwebsitedomain

If the article doesn’t show up, it’s not indexed yet.

4. Google Search Console

Google Search Console is the best tool to monitor and manage your site’s indexing status.

• Go to Google Search Console.
• Add your site property if it’s not already added.
• Copy the URL of your article and paste it into the search bar at the top.

If your webpage or blog page is indexed, it will display the indexing status. If it’s not indexed, you’ll see an option that allows you to request indexing.

Steps to Request Indexing:

1. Click the "REQUEST INDEXING" button.
2. Google will prioritize your page for crawling and indexing.
