Pinterest Marketing Mastery: Using Pinterest for Business, Pinterest Affiliate Marketing, and Pinterest Advertising

Pinterest Marketing 2024

I'm Mike, and if you're new here, today we are diving into one of my most highly requested guide on Pinterest marketing! I'm really excited to share this with you because I know many of you have been patiently waiting for this post. Honestly, I’m sorry it took so long, but I wanted to ensure that the strategies and tactics I’m using actually work, which I’ve tested on multiple accounts. That’s how I got my personal brand’s Pinterest account to 1k views per month.

Regardless of your brand type, whether it's a personal brand, a store, or a print-on-demand shop, getting that many views a month can drive sales, revenue, and make using Pinterest for business highly profitable. Today, I’ll walk you through my exact step-by-step strategy on how I used Pinterest to achieve these results in a short period. But before I jump into the steps, let’s talk a bit about Pinterest itself.

I find that when I mention Pinterest for business, people are often surprised. Many either think it’s just another social media platform or don’t know you can even post on it. Here’s the thing: Pinterest is actually a search engine, not just a social media platform like Instagram or TikTok. People use Pinterest to search for ideas, gifts, outfits, recipes, and so much more, similar to how they use Google.

Pinterest SEO

The difference between Pinterest and traditional social media is key because Pinterest's algorithm works more like a search engine. This makes it a great platform to reach an audience actively searching for something, whether it’s products, services, or content, and that’s where Pinterest affiliate marketing comes in. If you're an affiliate marketer, Pinterest is an ideal place to share affiliate links directly through your pins. By creating engaging pins related to products you promote, you can drive affiliate sales, especially by using strategic keywords that potential buyers are searching for.

I’ll be showing you how I applied these strategies on my personal brand’s account, but you can use them for print-on-demand, Etsy stores, or any business you want to grow.

1. Get Pinterest Business Account.

Now, the first and most important thing you need is a Pinterest business account. This allows you to track analytics, see how your pins are performing, and more importantly, add a link to your bio.

2. Optimize Pinterest Account For SEO.

Your Pinterest bio should be optimized with SEO keywords, as these are what the platform uses to push your account to users searching for relevant content.

3. Repost Existing Contents On Pinterest.

You don’t need to create new content specifically for Pinterest; just repost existing content, but make sure to remove any watermarks. This is crucial, and I’ll explain more about how Pinterest favors video marketing through something called Pinterest advertising, which can be a highly effective tool for promoting products or services. By running targeted Pinterest ads, you can boost your pins and get them in front of a broader audience.

To repost a TikTok video without the watermark, use a site called SnapTick. Just copy your TikTok video link, paste it into SnapTick, and download the video in HD without the watermark. Then, go to Pinterest sign in, then hit the plus sign, and select "Idea Pin" to upload your video.

Once the video is uploaded, you can edit the audio and add clips. I recommend adding your @username or business name to the video to ensure you get credit if it’s reposted elsewhere. If you’re marketing a product, like something from an Etsy shop, include a message like "Purchase on Etsy, link in profile," to drive traffic directly to your store.

4. Include Keywords In Pinterest.

Now, the most important part: keywords. Pinterest, being a search engine, relies on them to push your content to the right audience. In your Idea Pin title, make sure to use relevant keywords. For example, if your video is about business inspiration, use keywords like "business inspiration," "success tips," or "study motivation." You can separate these keywords with a line or a dash. Next, under "Notes," add more specific keywords to further optimize your Idea Pin.

I usually add between 5 to 15 keywords, depending on the content’s specificity. You want to ensure all keywords are relevant to what you're promoting. Don’t add random words, just stay focused on your niche. After that, you’ll want to tag related topics in your Idea Pin. These tags help Pinterest categorize your content and push it to users searching for related terms.

5. Consistency.

Finally, consistency is key. When I started this account last April, I wasn’t posting much, but three months ago, I became consistent, and my account grew quickly. Post regularly, ideally at the same time every day, to maximize your reach.
