Here are my “10 Tips to Increase Laptop Performance For Gaming”, I have been a gamer like you before, and here are my ideal tips to put you on the start as a gamer and also to help you enjoy your gaming experience.
Let's start;
Upgrade RAM
The RAM comes into play when you think of a fast running laptop and more RAM can improve multitasking and game performance. But before you do that, check your laptop’s specifications to see if you can really add more RAM.

Consider Switching From HDD to SSD
Update Graphics Drivers
Am a game lover as I said, and always want to meet the right minimum or maximum requirements for most games. So when it comes to boosting your laptop gaming performance, keep your GPU drivers updated and make sure they are always up to date. Websites like Driverscape, and programs like Iobit and Easy Driver can help you download the latest GPU drivers, whilst you can also get GPU drivers from the manufacturer’s website of your laptop to ensure optimal performance and bug fixes.
Optimize Your Graphics Settings
Once you have updated your GPU drivers, do not put them on high quality or performance but preserve the settings to low quality or have the GPU set to lower performance in your games for better performance and glitch free. Remember to adjust resolution, shadows, and texture quality to find a balance between visual quality and your laptop gaming performance.
Clean Up Your System with this file
If your drive gets full, gaming on your machine can sometimes become difficult, so regularly cleaning up your laptop’s hard drive can help remove unwanted files or temp files that take up space on your laptop. To make this easy I have created a BAT file that would clean your PC to boost it for gaming. Don't worry, this file will not delete your important files, just temp files that will prevent you from Gaming. Just download, extract and run file.
Furthermore, you can also use disk cleanup tools to remove unnecessary files and free up storage space on your laptop.
Lift Laptop Of The Table
Whilst gaming, your laptop fans try to function in a way to keep the GPU and CPU working. Excess heat can affect the performances of these two brothers. So get your laptop cool with a cooling pad and avoid playing games on a flat surface like the table or worse, on the bed.
As I said, overheating can throttle your gaming laptop performance but a cooling pad helps to maintain lower temperatures. If you can't afford a cooling pad, try supporting the corners of your laptop bottom with objects as shown below to avoid it from overheating.
Manage Background Processes
Me personally, before I play games on my laptop, I use Task Manager (CTRL + DEL then Task Manager) to identify and close background apps that consume system resources like the RAM and CPU and other apps that are not relevant at that moment.
Adjust Power Settings To High
To set your laptop to ultimate performance command
Open CMD as Administrator by right clicking on CMD from the start menu and selecting Run as Administrator. Once on the CMD window, Copy this code "powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61" and paste it into the CMD command and hit enter.
Ultimate performance will be activated so head to your power plan and select it.
Defragment Your Hard Drive
Regularly defragmenting your HDD (not necessary for SSDs) can help boost your gaming laptop. Defragmentation can help improve the read/write speeds on hard drives(HDD).
Update and Check for Malware
Viruses can temper your laptop and prevent you from having a better gaming performance. So run regular antivirus scans with Microsoft Defender. First, check if there is an update for your Microsoft Defender, update and scan your entire machine for viruses.
Malware can slow down your system. So ensure you’re protected with up-to-date antivirus software.
